Landscapes of Jordan: An Active Journey

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Little Petra, the starting point for today’s hike. We will enter Petra through the “Back Door,” avoiding most of the crowds, and hike along a scenic route that leads to a hidden high plateau and the back entrance of the city.

The hike brings you to the Monastery, one of Petra’s most impressive facades. With fewer visitors here than at the main sites, it’s a perfect spot for photos.

We will then continue to the amphitheatre and the iconic Treasury, experiencing the beauty of Petra’s ancient architecture.

The day concludes as we exit the city through the Siq, the tall, narrow slot canyon, and make our way to the Visitor Center.

Overnight: Petra

After breakfast, we will begin our hike in Petra, starting along the main trail before turning off near the Obelisk Tomb. From there, the path leads onto the Madras Trail, winding through the hills south of the Siq.

Continuing from this quieter entrance, the hike ascends to the High Place of Sacrifice, offering sweeping views of the Royal Tombs.

The route then takes you past several notable sites, including the Renaissance Tomb and the Soldier Tomb, before reaching the Colonnaded Street in the heart of Petra’s ancient Roman city.

Once at the center of Petra, you will have free time to explore the area further at your own pace. You might choose to wander along the Street of Facades, relax at the cave bar, or rest at your own pace. For those seeking a more adventurous route, options include exploring Jabal Khubtha, Um Bayyara, and other hidden trails.

Overnight: Petra

The day begins with a short transfer to Shobak Castle, one of the earliest Crusader fortresses built in Jordan to oversee the region’s trade routes.

From there, we start cycling along one of the most scenic stages of the Jordan Bike Trail toward Little Petra. The route follows mostly dirt tracks, with some paved sections, winding around the mountains of Dana and Petra and offering spectacular views of the Jordan Valley. Lunch boxes will be provided along the way by a local family from Petra.

As the ride comes to an end, we visit Little Petra, an ancient suburb of Petra, to explore its historic charm.

In the evening, we settle at a Bedouin camp tucked behind the region’s characteristic sandstone formations. Here, you will experience traditional Bedouin hospitality and enjoy the unique desert setting.

Overnight: Little Petra

The day begins at an altitude of approximately 1,600 meters, where the trail gently descends toward the village of Toghra, transitioning from paved roads to dirt tracks.

From there, the ride continues with a long downhill stretch off-road, leading toward Wadi Rum, followed by a pleasant flat section across the wide-open desert on firm sand.

After completing the cycling section, we transfer to a jeep for a safari through Wadi Rum, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The drive takes us across valleys, canyons, dunes, and desert landscapes, where you can discover ancient rock inscriptions and enjoy stunning mountain views. At various stops, there is the chance to hike, scramble, and explore the surroundings at your own pace.

Overnight: Wadi Rum

After an early breakfast, we set off by jeep toward Jabal Umm Ad-Dami, located near the southern edge of the nature reserve, close to the border with Saudi Arabia.

From the base of the mountain, we begin a moderate hike to the summit, which takes approximately 2–3 hours. At the top, you will be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding desert.

After descending, a traditional desert-cooked lunch will be served, allowing you to relax and enjoy the scenery.

Overnight: Wadi Rum

After leaving the desert behind, we travel toward the Dead Sea, known as the lowest point on earth.

Upon arrival, you can float effortlessly in the salty waters, cover yourself with the mineral-rich Dead Sea mud, relax by the pool, or indulge in a spa treatment—a perfect way to ease tired legs after several days of hiking.

Later in the afternoon, we set off on the bus for the final stretch back to Amman, winding our way up from the Dead Sea and returning to the city where the journey began.

Your stay concludes today, marking the end of the standard tour package.
