Finnish Skiing Getaway

On Day 2, the adventure begins at the beginner-friendly ski school, ideal for those new to skiing. Meanwhile, more experienced skiers can enjoy a thrilling 15 km tour on the guesthouse’s own trail, taking in the surrounding winter scenery.

After the morning activity, a relaxing lunch provides the perfect break. The afternoon offers free time to try other outdoor activities or unwind in the soothing warmth of the sauna. The day concludes with a delicious dinner at the guesthouse, featuring a local menu that highlights the region’s best flavors.

On the second day of ski school, we explore the well-maintained trails of Vatimo Village, which offer easy terrain suitable for all skill levels. The trails range from 2.8 to 8 km, allowing beginners to ski at their own pace while more experienced skiers can enjoy longer runs.

Midday, we stop at a scenic lean-to by the shore for a picnic lunch around an open fire. Adventurous guests can take a refreshing dip in the open-air waters before we return to Laitala Guesthouse. The afternoon is perfect for relaxing in the sauna, followed by a dinner featuring a forest-inspired menu that highlights authentic local flavors.

We spend the day exploring Laitala’s scenic ski track, where the tranquil winter landscape creates a memorable experience. Skiers can choose their own route, with a maximum distance of 15 km, making it suitable for all levels.

A picnic in the hut provides a perfect midday break. After skiing and lunch, the afternoon is dedicated to relaxation, with time to enjoy the sauna and hot tub. The day concludes with a dinner featuring a special Lapland menu, showcasing authentic flavors from northern Finland.

The day begins with a visit to the majestic Koli National Park for a guided snowshoe hike through its pristine winter landscapes. After the hike, you can stop by the Ukko Nature Center to learn more about the area. Following lunch in Koli, there’s time to explore the charming village, and adventurous guests can try downhill skiing independently, with equipment available for rent on site.

In the evening, we return to the guesthouse to unwind in the sauna, followed by a dinner featuring a lake-inspired menu that highlights the authentic flavors of the region.

The day features an enjoyable 10 km ski trip to Haikola House along a flat and easy track, perfect for all skill levels. At Haikola House, we pause for a picnic by the open fire, while more experienced skiers can continue back to Bomba Village.

After the ski adventure, we relax at the Karelian spa in Bomba before returning to the guesthouse. The evening concludes with a dinner from the Taste of Finland menu, offering a true experience of Finnish culinary traditions.

In the afternoon, we visit the charming town of Nurmes, where there is time to explore, shop, and soak up the local atmosphere. The day concludes back at the guesthouse with a soothing sauna session, followed by a farewell dinner featuring traditional Karelian delicacies.

The tour concludes with departure from the guesthouse at 11:00 AM. A group transfer is provided to Kuopio Airport for flights around 14:00, or to Siilinjärvi Railway Station for trains departing at approximately 13:00.
