This self-drive trip introduces you to the West Algarve through a route created by locals to showcase its dramatic landscapes, traditional flavours, and coastal highlights. Based in Lagos, you’ll experience a region where rugged cliffs, quiet hills, and lively seaside towns blend into a memorable journey.
From Lagos, the itinerary leads along the Vicentina Coast, through Sagres and the cliffs of Cape São Vicente, the southwestern tip of Portugal. You’ll take in the iconic scenery of Ponta da Piedade, the wild beaches of Arrifana and Odeceixe, the green hills of Monchique, and the natural sanctuary of Ria de Alvor. Lagos itself adds history and charm, with its old streets, cultural landmarks, and a sweeping bay bordered by delicate sands.
You travel independently by car, following a curated route that links viewpoints, hill trails, coastal paths, and regional cuisine. Fresh seafood, local dishes, and excellent Portuguese wines add depth to the experience — and the tour can be extended to eight days for an even richer discovery of the West Algarve.
